Karim was born in 1976 in Algeria, son of an Algerian father and a Brazilian mother. He spent some years in Algeria, Brazil and then in Haiti, where he lived for 10 years. These three countries made a marked impression on his adolescence. But it was at Dakar that his passion for the cinema and the theatre emerged.
At 18, he went to study social sciences and philosophy in France, then entered the London Film School, where he directed his first short film "Constant Flow".
Since his return to Paris in 2001, he has worked as an actor, director and stage designer. In 2003 he directed 30 minute film "Le Secret de Fatima" which treated the dark years in Algeria, then "Racine(s)", in 2004, one of 15 short films included in the collective feature "Paris la Mtisse".
Karim teaches film and theatre to youths from deprived backgrounds. He is developing his first feature screenplay "L'Olivier rouge" which tells the recently unfolding history between France and Algeria.
