Tjyying Liu: Biography Babylon 2008
Writer/Director
Project Title: MIRRORS IN THE NIGHT/NACHTSPIEGELS
Ever since playing the role of Amigo, a Mexican cook (!) in a Chinese soapseries called Chinese Restaurant, I believe in the magical, or perhaps I better say the humoristic, quality of film. The soap was entirely shot in Chinese, apart from Amigo's one and only Spanish sentence which i will translate for you here: "There's two suspicious looking guys with sunglasses on standing at the back entrance..."
It sounds like a bad soap series and it was. Yet the experience of being in a film studio for the first time made me crave for more. After eight years in China, developing more writing skills as a correspondent for a Dutch newspaper, I went back to the Netherlands and try to humor people here with directing theatre productions and writing films.
