David Braun: Biography
Producer/Director David Braun founded Sous les Paves-Alpaga Films in 2010 with Jean Christophe Pêcheur. Initially focused on commissioned video and advertising, the company quickly became specialised in arthouse film.
In 2012 he produced and directed the company’s first film “European Electric Suicide Tour”, which was supported by the CNC, the Région Alsace and the city of Strasbourg.
At the end of 2013, the company released two fiction films as well as a documentary. The following year was spent in research and development, including a transmedia project, and in 2014, moved to new premises, gaining access to inhouse editing facilities and a sound studio.
David produced Mathieu Zgraggen’s short film “Think Big”, which in 2015 was selected by Clermont Ferrand Festival, as well as winning the grand jury prize at Angers Film Festival. The film was acquired for distribution by Canal+ in September 2015. He then produced Zgraggen’s film “Iceberg” in 2016, which started its festival life in competition at Locarno International Film Festival before screening at Valencia and Short Film Corner at Cannes.
In 2016, the company sought a collaboration with Innervision to create a post-production hub in Alsace: Les Studios du Rhin. David is currently developing Mathieu Zgraggen’s first full-length feature film “Bye-Bye Kelly”.
