Simone Wendel: Biography
Simone Wendel is a documentary filmmaker based in Mannheim. She founded independent production company Projekt Gold with Mario A. Conte in 2005 as a vehicle for their own projects, with the aim of creating something particular and unique with each film.
Since then, Simone and Mario have produced numerous short art films and commercials. Their first full-length documentary was the successful “Kings of Kallstadt” (2014) (92 mins), which explored the conundrum that a small German town could produce globally successful individuals like Heinz and Trump, sparking great interest both in the US and Europe.
“Kings of Kalstadt” was produced in co-production with Familie Hofmann Film, Perfect Shot Films, SWR and ARTE. Supported by MFG, Stiftung Rheinland-Pfalz, distributed by Barnsteiner Film.
Simone and Mario are currently developing their successor documentary project “My Cousin”.
